Sweet Corn is On It's Way...

Well - as you can imagine the most asked question I have been asked since March when we announced our new farm is "Are you growing sweet corn - When will it be ready?"  Well the answer is YES and SOON!

Gary, the kids and myself stopped by the farm after church yesterday and had to "test" the sweet corn!  It is doing great!  The corn has gone thru the stages of tassel, silk and are now making each kernal of corn...we will be serving up a nice big batch of corn before you know it!  As soon as it is ready we will have it available for purchase at our farm store - along with squash, onions, cantalope, tomatoes, beets, and more!

Keep checking our website for updates to our vegetable availability or call us at 928-830-1116 anytime!

A Day with the FFA!

Gilbert High School FFA Farm Tour 2011
Walking the fields this morning with the FFA (Future Farmers of America) from Gilbert High Ag Center I was excited to see their enthusiasm and excitement about farming.  We had a wonderful discussion of their plans for the future and how they will be a part of all our futures...Providing food for our tables.  We discussed how the average age of American Farmers keep increasing and we are in desperate need of young farmers and ranchers to continue food production in America.  I hope they will take the challenge and find a way they can be involved in American Agriculture now and for many years in the future!

Thanks to the FFA and 4H organizations for all they do to encourage and educate young people of the benefits and challenges in American Agriculture.

Mortimer Family Farms...The New Era

We were in the fields last night watering - the corn is growing so well and will be ready for harvest before we know it!  We have been working feverishly with this fertile soil to grow the best sweet corn you have ever tasted!  It will be ready to harvest by the first of August...So keep checking in on our website and be the first to get our corn!

The garden is growing too...We will be harvesting summer squash, tomatoes, and other vegetables soon!  I will also post this information on our blog and will send out email notification when we have veggies available.  Sign up today for our e-news so you can receive these notifications!

Thanks and we will see you at the farm!
